Hamburg, September 2018
This year, the Karin und Walter Blüchert Gedächtnisstiftung supports the work of the Hamburger Zentrum für Kinder und Jugendliche in Trauer e. V (Hamburg Centre for Children and Young People in Mourning). The non-profit association was founded in Hamburg in 2009 to help children and young people process and deal with great misfortune.
The Hamburger Zentrum für Kinder und Jugendliche in Trauer e. V. was founded so that adolescents can tackle the emotional challenge of experiencing loss or anxiety with the aid of trained pastoral counselling. The children are welcome to make use of the association’s support for as long as they need to help them cope.
The current expansion and intensification of methods for coping with mourning require aid, which the Karin und Walter Blüchert Gedächtnisstiftung realises throughout the year. The Foundation supports the association in order to facilitate the important task of this special direct aid for children and young people.
„For young people, the loss of a key person comes at a time that is in itself characterised by uncertainty, turbulence and a search for orientation. If aggravating circumstances are then thrown in, such as suicide, violence or mental illness on the part of the remaining parent, then the offer of one-to-one support can be vital to survival.“
Maria Traut, Trauerbegleiterin
In this way, it continues the values and world view of its founders: As early as the 1960s, the publisher Walter Blüchert and his wife
Karin Blüchert were committed to the progress of our social community, by providing generous donations to hospitals and old people’s homes with generous donations and providing direct assistance to low-income senior citizens.
The Karin und Walter Blüchert Gedächtnisstiftung was founded in 2016. It has offered immediate, direct aid and support to individuals, but also supports institutions that provide direct aid. Because everyone matters.
One of these institutions is the Hamburger Zentrum für Kinder und Jugendliche in Trauer (Hamburg Centre for Children and Young People in Mourning). In addition, the foundation realises its own projects to initiate sustainable aid. This includes the DOCK2018 – Ein Tag ohne Sorgen (A Day Without Worries), an event for the community and people in need in Hamburg. Furthermore, the Foundation supports networking between charitable organisations, e.g. through this year’s network event Nich’ lang schnacken. Anpacken!
