Call for supporting parties and helping hands for the DOCK2018

Hamburg, May 2018

The Karin und Walter Blüchert Gedächtnisstiftung is organising the DOCK2018 – Ein Tag ohne Sorgen (A Day Without Worries) on 20 May 2018: a day event for people in difficult or vulnerable situations in life. The Hamburg Cruise Center HafenCity welcomes the guests to a programme tailored to their needs. Any volunteer who would like to support the event and its diverse programme with his or her own involvement is cordially invited to do so.

The DOCK2018 is aimed at people who have to start their day with worries. Anyone can quickly get into this situation and suddenly need becomes part of everyday life. It is the task of our community to come together and strengthen those in our midst for whom a difficult everyday life is a reality. Because everyone matters, DOCK2018 is opening its doors.

Every person who walks through these doors will be welcomed. The guests will be greeted with friendly faces at the reception and cloakroom, where luggage and coats can be left and safely stowed. If you would like to help with any tasks in the welcome area, please feel free to get in touch.

Stations spread over the site offer a variety of activities. Those who are hungry and thirsty can eat as much as they like at the food bar or the large buffet inside the Center. More helping hands are needed to prepare meals and drinks. As well as the offer of food, two areas are designated for donations. There will be a selection of toys for young guests, clothes as well as care and hygiene utensils for everyday needs. Distributing the donations can also be aided by organisational talent.

There is an area for sanitary facilities that are protected from view, with barrier-free toilets and showers. Donations are also being made by professional hairdressers giving haircuts, barbers offering a fresh shave or trim and a beauty station for the ladies. Doctors are also available on site for medical care or advice. Volunteers with the necessary experience are also welcome to help with this welfare sanitary station.

The play corner has a bouncy castle, toys and other surprises for a funfilled day for the little ones. The DOCK2018 playground is looking for additional experienced pre-school teachers and playmates.

There will be a station looking after the needs of the guests’ pets. Medical care is provided by vets and food donations are also available. If animal lovers want to actively help look after the four-legged friends, please make yourself known to the DOCK2018!

DOCK2018 wants to ensure that as many people as possible are reached, both those to whom the invitation is addressed and potential volunteers. Targeted distribution of the information would be extremely helpful.

If associations or non-profit organisations want to support the DOCK2018 and the message with their capabilities, they are welcome to get in touch with the organisers of the Karin und Walter Blüchert Gedächtnisstiftung.

With DOCK2018 – Ein Tag ohne Sorgen, the Karin und Walter Blüchert Gedächtnisstiftung is organising an event from a series of its own projects focussing on the direct benefit for socially disadvantaged people. Two weeks later, the Nich’ lang schnacken. Anpacken! Don’t just talk. Start Working!) takes place. The event invites representatives of foundations and associations to contribute to a sustainable network of the charitable working world. For this purpose, the participants meet for a joint sailing trip on which intensive dialogues and partnerships can evolve.

Since its foundation in November 2016, the Foundation has offered immediate, direct aid and support to individuals, but also supports institutions that provide direct aid. Because everyone matters.
