During the 2020\/2021 pandemic, day centers for homeless people in Hamburg were reduced to a minimum. This meant that, practically overnight, there were few, if any, safe and supervised places for people to rest. A day center is primarily a safe haven for people who, for example, are homeless or jobless.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Since January 2021, together with our cooperation partner, Hoffnungstellen Hamburg, and the motivated team at HerzAs, we have been operating a 22-container-sized shelter. There, 40 people can simultaneously receive protection, advice, food, and rest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The road to realization was rocky and often difficult.
