She then completed her legal traineeship at the Higher Regional Court of Hamburg. She has been a licensed attorney since October 2025. In December 2025, she began working as a research assistant at Helmut Schmidt University, where she is pursuing her doctorate in public law. Sarah Timmann has been a member of the Hamburg Parliament since 2020. Since 2025, she has served as the SPD parliamentary group&#039;s spokesperson on justice policy and is a member of the parliamentary group&#039;s executive committee.
