Normalization occurs when problematic behaviors become accepted as normal over time. This can lead to violence or discrimination being perceived less or questioned less frequently. Currently, normalization is also being discussed as a deliberate strategy: individuals or groups consciously and regularly use discriminatory or violent language or behavior so that the rest of the population becomes accustomed to it and increasingly perceives this discrimination/violence as normal and less problematic.
