Our own social projects
The Karin and Walter Blüchert Memorial Foundation is committed to supporting people in need through its own projects – in an uncomplicated, accessible, and sustainable way. Our initiatives create spaces for encounters, promote social participation, and develop new ways to address current social challenges.
Whether it's networking charitable organizations, strengthening older people, supporting people in need, or raising awareness of everyday violence – each of our projects focuses on where help can have an impact.
With Hanseatic pragmatism, a lot of heart and the courage to open up new perspectives, we work together to create solutions for a more just society.
Our projects
DOCK invites people in need, the homeless, and those in distress to spend two carefree days together. The harbor symbolizes Hanseatic openness and serves as a hub for encounters. This is also the motivation behind DOCK: guests should arrive and find support during their visit; they should dock. The program is therefore designed with them and their individual needs in mind. At DOCK, we want to maintain the established traditions while simultaneously forging and guiding new paths.
Everyday violence – a topic that can affect each and every one of us on different levels. But where does violence actually begin, and how can I get help? These are precisely the questions we, as a foundation, explore. In our daily work, through collaboration with our partners and the support of individuals, we constantly have the opportunity to rethink how we provide assistance. Therefore, we created the forum on "Everyday Violence" to inform people about a wide range of topics within our project area, to engage in direct dialogue, and to actively shape new forms of support.
We work at the intersection of academia, legal practice, and social responsibility. The Victims' Rights team is committed to systematically integrating the perspectives and needs of victims into the further development of victim protection law. Our focus is on the scholarly analysis and advancement of victim protection law, particularly social compensation law and criminal procedure law. In doing so, we examine the legal, social, and practical challenges faced by victims. Through our work, we aim to stimulate research, legal practice, and civil society.
We support projects, promote professional exchange, and contribute to strengthening victim protection in a sustainable way. In addition, we support the foundation's charitable projects aimed at providing more needs-based care, particularly with regard to issues of social and medical law.
Loneliness is a societal problem that affects everyone, but everyone can also solve it! The "Experience Bearers" project has created a diverse range of services for seniors in Hamburg, enabling them to remain active members of society in various areas. To increase the visibility of existing services and create new ones, the Karin and Walter Blüchert Memorial Foundation regularly organizes a week of activities with different focuses.
No more talk. Let's get to work! Under this motto, representatives from foundations, aid organizations, and companies meet to engage in intensive and productive dialogue. They recently gathered in a relaxed atmosphere on the deck of a former lightship and one of Europe's largest sailing vessels – the "Atlantis" – while sailing through the Hamburg area.
The event aimed to provide charitable organizations with a platform for dialogue and collaboration, fostering future projects and partnerships. While participants cooked together and strengthened their networks on land, teams formed naturally, sealing new and lasting collaborations with a traditional Hanseatic handshake at the end of an eventful day. The Karin and Walter Blüchert Memorial Foundation will support these partnerships individually and regularly bring them together for further exchange.
