Sylvia Krenzel Speaker

Sylvia Krenzel has worked at Mädchenhaus Bielefeld e. V. for 14 years, where she is head of the counseling, therapy, and prevention department. As a psychologist, she also manages the supra-regional specialist center for violence protection for people with disabilities, the supra-regional specialist counseling center against forced marriage, and the local counseling center for girls and young women/specialized counseling on sexualized violence.
In line with the focus areas of Mädchenhaus Bielefeld e. V. (Bielefeld Girls' Home Association), she and her team members support girls and women affected by various forms of violence. They work from a feminist and advocacy perspective, prioritizing the interests and needs of those affected. Domestic violence is the most common form of violence that leads girls, women, and their support persons to seek help from the respective counseling centers.
Sylvia Krenzel is deeply committed to ensuring that girls and women with and without disabilities experience in their respective counseling sessions that they are seen and believed, and that a new space can be created for self-determination, courage and dignity.
