Innovative event concepts promote social engagement in Hamburg
The Karin and Walter Blüchert Memorial Foundation offers immediate and direct support to individuals. It also supports institutions that, in turn, provide direct assistance. By hosting two events this summer, the foundation is further pursuing its goals: providing direct, on-site aid to people in need and promoting broader charitable cooperation.
DOCK 2018
The foundation aims to provide immediate, local support through a modern event concept. To this end, the first DOCK2018 – A Day Without Worries – will take place on May 20, 2018, at the Hamburg Cruise Center HafenCity. This day-long event is designed for people facing significant challenges in their daily lives. Anyone can quickly find themselves in such a situation. It is our community's responsibility to come together and support those around us. This includes people who lack shelter, those who need assistance with their own or their families' food, and those who miss social interaction.
DOCK2018 can show a way to accomplish this important task. Numerous stations on the grounds will invite visitors to feel comfortable – catering to the individual needs of guests, regardless of age or size. And the well-being of four-legged companions will also be taken care of, for example, with veterinary care and food.
The organizing Karin and Walter Blüchert Memorial Foundation is looking forward to the event with great joy and hopes that DOCK2018 will also have a lasting impact on mindfulness in dealing with socially disadvantaged members of our society.
Let's get to work!
Stop talking and get to work! will be two weeks later on June 2, 2018 An event is being organized that focuses on comprehensive social work for individuals and communities. Representatives from associations and foundations with a social focus are invited to this event. The aim of this meeting is to foster networking and thus encourage future collaboration.
For this purpose, the participants meet for one day to engage in an intensive, productive dialogue. And this will take place on the water: the venue will be the Tall Ship Atlantis It is one of the last lightships in Germany, now a converted sailing vessel. Here, helpers and those who want to help come together in a relaxed atmosphere as they sail through the Hamburg countryside. Between mast and galley, starboard and port, the projects and goals of the associations are to be networked with the resources and reach of the foundations. The program is coordinated by a moderator. Stop talking and get to work! initiates a larger network of Hamburg's charitable landscape in order to strengthen social organization and engagement in the long term.
With DOCK2018 and Stop talking and get to work! Hamburg is about to host two events in early summer. The driving force behind the concepts – the Karin and Walter Blüchert Memorial Foundation – is taking event organization a step further, focusing on actively shaping our social environment. Because every person counts.
