Sarah Timmann studied law at the University of Hamburg from 2015 to 2020. She then completed her legal traineeship at the Higher Regional Court of Hamburg. She has been a licensed attorney since October 2025. In December 2025, she began working as a research assistant at Helmut Schmidt University, where she is pursuing her doctorate in public law. Sarah Timmann has been a member of the Hamburg Parliament since 2020. Since 2025, she has served as the SPD parliamentary group's spokesperson on justice policy and is a member of the parliamentary group's executive committee. In the Hamburg Parliament, she is a member of the Budget Committee, the Committee on Justice and Consumer Protection, and the Committee on Digitalization and Data Protection.
